Impersonation & Fraud Prevention

I am aware that third parties may attempt to impersonate my business through fraudulent emails, messages, or payment requests (“phishing” or “spoofing”). These communications are not sent by me and are not authorised.

How to verify it’s really me

  • Our official email addresses end in @peaknet.co.uk. Never Gmail.

  • I never request urgent payments, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers by email.

  • If you receive a message from any address claiming to be Nancy Detchon or Peak Net Web Design that does not end in @peaknet.co.uk, or if a message seems unusual or inconsistent with my normal communication, do not click links, download attachments, or reply to it. Contact me directly at nancy.detchon@peaknet.co.uk to confirm whether it is real.

Reporting suspicious messages

  1. Block the sender in your email settings. If your organisation has an IT team, ask them to block the address for everyone.

  2. Use "Report phishing" in your email client on the original message. This tells the email provider directly, which carries more weight than a forwarded copy.

  3. If a payment has already been made, contact your bank's fraud department immediately. Payments can sometimes be recalled if reported quickly.

  4. If the sender is claiming to be from Wix you can also forward the email to them at reportphishing@wix.com. There is more information here: https://support.wix.com/en/article/identifying-and-reporting-phishing

Reporting to your email provider and your bank is what protects you. I am not able to stop or recover fraudulent messages or payments on your behalf.

Important note

Email spoofing is a known internet risk. I take reasonable steps to protect my communications but I cannot guarantee that third parties will not attempt to imitate my name or brand. I am not responsible for losses or damages resulting from communications that do not originate from my official domain.
