Answers to 12 of the most common Wix capability questions — from a Wix Legend Partner who hears these every week.
'But can Wix do...?' is one of the questions I hear most often — in discovery calls, in messages, in the Facebook groups I'm part of, and in the DMs from people who've been researching website platforms for weeks and still aren't sure.

Wix, for all its impressive strengths, is frequently misunderstood — both over-estimated by people who think it can do everything, and under-estimated by people still working from its reputation of five years ago.
As a Wix Legend Partner who has been working on this platform for over 15 years, I've answered variations of these questions more times than I can count. Here are honest answers to the twelve 'can Wix do that?' questions I get asked most — no fluff, no sales pitch, just straight answers with the nuance they deserve.
The Wix Q&A
Wix can handle most things a small service-based business needs — bookings, payments, courses, e-commerce, SEO, blogs, and automations. The nuance is always in the detail, the plan level, and what 'good enough' means for your specific situation.
Can Wix do bookings and appointments? Yes — Wix Bookings is a full-featured booking system for sessions, appointments, classes, and courses. It syncs with your calendar, sends automated reminders, and handles payments at the point of booking.
Can Wix take payments? Yes — via Wix Payments (built-in), PayPal, or Stripe. Card payments, Apple Pay, Google Pay. Requires a Business plan or higher.
Can Wix run an online course or membership? Yes — Wix has a Pricing Plans feature that lets you create gated content and recurring subscription memberships. More advanced course functionality is available via the Wix Learn/Wix Courses app.
Can Wix do e-commerce? Yes — Wix Stores handles physical and digital products. Excellent for small to medium e-commerce. For very large product ranges (thousands of SKUs), other platforms may suit better.
Can Wix do SEO? Yes — the old 'Wix is bad for SEO' reputation is outdated. Wix has robust SEO tools: customisable meta data, structured data support, fast loading, Google Search Console integration, and an SEO setup wizard.
Can Wix do blogs? Yes — Wix Blog is feature-rich with categories, tags, SEO settings per post, scheduled publishing, and reader comments. Entirely sufficient for small business blogging.
Can Wix run a multi-language website? Yes — Wix Multilingual allows you to create translated versions of your site for different language audiences, with hreflang tags for SEO.
Can Wix do forms and automations? Yes — Wix Forms captures enquiries and triggers automated responses. Wix Automations handles follow-up emails, reminders, and notifications based on visitor actions.
Can Wix work on mobile? Yes — Wix has a dedicated mobile editor and all sites are mobile-responsive. You can customise the mobile layout independently of the desktop layout.
Can Wix connect to my existing tools? Yes — Wix connects to many popular tools via its App Market and direct integrations: Mailchimp, Google Analytics, HubSpot, Zapier, and many more.
Can Wix handle a large or complex website? Yes - Wix operates at Enterprise level (very large scale).
Can I move my website away from Wix later? You can export your content, but the design will need to be rebuilt on a new platform. This is true of most website builders. Getting the platform decision right from the start is always preferable to a migration later.
The Overall Picture
Wix handles everything most businesses need, and handles it well. The platform's reputation for limitations is largely based on an older version of itself.
If you've read through all twelve questions, you'll have a clear picture by now: Wix is capable of considerably more than its reputation sometimes suggests. For small service businesses — the kind I work with every day — it handles bookings, payments, courses, memberships, e-commerce, SEO, blogs, forms, automations, and mobile with genuine competence.
The things it doesn't do are genuinely edge cases for most small businesses. If your business sits outside those categories — and the vast majority of the women I work with do — Wix is a more than capable platform for building a professional, effective website.
