Your Website Is More Than Just A Pretty Face!

It’s lovely to have a beautiful website but it’s even better when that website actually works for your business. I see so many small business owners pour time and money into their websites, only to end up with something that looks nice but doesn’t generate enquiries, sales, or leads.

Your website isn’t just an online brochure. It’s a tool. A hardworking member of your team.

So how do you make sure your website is pulling its weight?

Make your website work harder for you and your business!
Your website isn’t just an online brochure. It’s a tool. A hardworking member of your team.

Here are five ways to make sure your site is doing more than just looking pretty.

1. Your website should explain what you do - clearly

People shouldn’t have to dig around to understand who you help, what you offer, or why it matters. Within seconds of landing on your homepage, your ideal client should be thinking:

“Ooh, this is exactly what I need.”

Quick Check: Is your homepage headline clear and benefit-driven? Does your intro explain how you help?

2. It should guide your visitor

Your website should gently lead people where you want them to go like a friendly host at a party! Too many links, a confusing menu, or missing calls-to-action can create overwhelm.

Quick Check: Is it easy to navigate? Do your pages have clear next steps, like “Book a call” or “Learn more”?

3. Your website should build trust

People buy from people they trust. Your website is a great place to show credibility and personality.

Quick Check: Do you have testimonials, case studies, or social proof? Are your photos current and real? Do you show a bit of you and your personality?

4. It should work on mobile (really well)

Well over half your visitors are on their phone. If your site isn’t mobile-friendly, you could be losing business without even knowing it.

Quick Check: When did you last check the mobile version of your website? Is the text readable without zooming in? Do buttons work properly? Is anything overlapping or missing?

5. Your website should make it easy to connect with you

If people love what they see but can’t figure out how to get in touch, they’ll get frustrated and give up. Don't make them work hard for anything, let alone make the first steps difficult!

Quick Check: Is your contact page easy to find? Do you have a clear call-to-action? Can they book, message, or call in a couple of clicks?
